JONATHAN CLIFTON was born in Bristol, England, studied at The New College of Speech and Drama in London, and has enjoyed a varied career as an actor, writer, musician, teacher and broadcaster.

Jonathan has appeared as an actor on the London stage, written comedy scripts for British radio and television, composed music for films, and written plays, songs and stories for children.

He has written several musicals, including "If it wasn't for the Houses in Between", and composed the new musical score for the much acclaimed OCT production of Bertold Brecht's "The Caucasian Chalk Circle", in which he also appeared as the Storyteller.

Jonathan Clifton contributed to the book, "Drama Skills", and is co-author, with Greta Colson of "The Enchanted Island", Shakespeare for Children. His songs and stories for children can be heard on his popular CD Best Friends (Squeezebox Audio).

He also worked with Dylan Thomas' daughter, Aeronwy Thomas on a presentation of her father's poetry, some of which Jonathan set to music. He composed and played the music for the documentary on Dylan Thomas' life "To Begin at the Beginning", broadcast throughout the UK, and on PBS in The United States. 

In recent years, Jonathan has been mainly teaching and writing, and has been in much demand as a Storyteller, enthralling children in libraries and schools with participatory drama, using little more than an empty space and everyday objects as props.

Jonathan is an executive with Northville Press UK, and was a founding partner in "Circle of Friends Concerts", promoting music and arts events in local communities.


Jonathan's son, Daniel Clifton is a successful director and film producer and a partner, with David Brooks, in Cliffbrook Films in Hollywood, CA.

Daniel co-produced The Choice, based on Nicholas Sparks best- selling book, which, after a successful worldwide cinema run is now Available on DVD and Bluray.
